Sue am a ​Social Worker who has been a Senior Management Executive, a front-line practitioner, and a consultant, who has worked in Australia and the United Kingdom, across government and non-government sectors for over 30 years. Sue holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Process Consultancy from Manchester University, a Postgraduate in Social Administration and a Certificate in The Practice of Supervision from the University Queensland, as well as  a Certificate of Attainment Lead Auditor – Quality Management Systems.

 

Within these roles, I have:

  • led, mentored, motivated, supervised and developed a diverse range of senior leadership teams across child protection, domestic and family violence, intensive family support and the youth sectors.

  • led a range of high-level projects and partnerships with organisations to develop practical and contemporary solutions to address a diverse range of service delivery issues and challenges.

  • led multiple external audits against National Disability Assurance Scheme (NDIS), QLD Human Service Quality Framework (HSQF), VIC Human Service Standards HSS

  • lead internal audits across QLD Human Service Quality Framework (HSQF), VIC Human Service Standards (HSS), SA Health and Community Services (QIC) Standards & Australian Service Excellence Standards (ASES), and oversaw departmental licensing self-assessments (in WA, SA, TAS, & VIC)

  • a proven track record of successful strategic and operational management, been responsible for the oversight of accountable, effective and appropriate delivery of services within legal and legislative obligations, contractual program requirements, service agreements and quality assurance standards.

 

  • a well-established reputation for developing and maintaining strategic relationships resulting in collaboration and partnership opportunities that built a positive organisational profile.  Sue held responsibility for the development and monitoring of annual budgets, financial accountability for multiple State and Federal funding streams, Sue has built a strong reputation in writing successful submissions, continual service improvement and service growth.

Sue is passionate about building, designing, leading co-design processes, evaluating services, writing and reviewing policies and practice processes, building partnerships, and supporting and developing strong leaders.

  • Consultant for Central Queensland University – Recognise, Respond, Refer (Facilitating the delivery of Domestic & Family Violence training with General Practitioner Services across the Primary Health Network, South Brisbane)

  • Led the Co-design process for the partnership building, engagement and development of the 24 Hour Domestic and Family Violence Mobile Support Service on the Gold Coast 2017.

  • Key Stakeholder in the Queensland Domestic Violence Common Assessment Framework.

  • Key Stakeholder in the ​Southport Specialist Domestic Violence Court Trial, engaged in the development of strategies to streamline practices to hold perpetrators of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) more accountable.

  • 24 Hour Domestic & Family Violence Mobile Support Service (Gold Coast) 

    • Undertook consultation, research, developed, designed, wrote a successful submission​ and implemented the new service on the Gold Coast 2017.

  • Blackpool Family Support Strategy: Social Care (United Kingdom)

    • led the management and implementation of an organisational change processes to embed the new Family Support Strategy.

  • Rural & Remote Youth Forums Local Government Association Qld (Crows Nest - Highfields, Cloncurry, Ilfracombe, Boonah, Clifton, Pittsworth, Kingaroy, Nanango, Miriam Vale - Agnes Waters, Banana - Biloela, Monto and Whitsundays - Proserpine)

    • Led an action research project in rural and remote Queensland, with key stakeholder groups including young people, local government representatives and community members, resulting in a written report with recommendations to meet the discrete community needs. 

  • Training Needs Analysis Samoan Community: (Department of Employment, Training and Industrial Affairs (Goodna / Ipswich Corridor)

    • Consultation and engagement with Elders and key Samoan Community groups to identify traditional skills that could be cultivated into potential employment opportunities whilst also identifying other training needs such as literacy, small business skills, marketing, business plans, budgeting, etc.

  • Development of two (2) training manuals – Diverse Cultures 'Understanding Who We Are’: 1998 Vol 1 (ISBN: 0-9587063-3-6) & 2001 Vol 2 (ISBN: O-646-40145-9) (Goodna Neighbourhood House & Ipswich City Council, South East Queensland)

    • Facilitation of Train The Trainer process with 180 service providers across South East Queensland in the Cultural Awareness training 1999 – 2001, providing a resource on education and awareness raising for community leaders to deliver within their local setting, that explored Migrant Settlement and their Ethnic Cultural experiences in South East Queensland.

Partnership Development & Building Strong Relationships
  • Working Against Violence Support Service (WAVSS) as the joint non-government organisations leading the Trial High Risk Team (HRT) Trial in Logan/Beenleigh, underpinned by a successful joint funding proposal.

  • Successful submission of a partnership evaluation proposal to ANROWS with Southern Cross University and Men and Family Service (NSW).

  • Successful in the research, submission writing and establishment of the first Domestic and Family Violence Homelessness and Mobile Support Service for the Gold Coast.

Statewide Child Protection Strategies
  • Led the consultation, development and implementation of joint Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Training with the Non-Government Sector 2010, to build shared knowledge and local relationships between the DFV sector and front line Child Protection staff.

  • Led the Case Planning Review and the development and implementation of the SMART Case Plan Model State-wide.

  • Led the Suspected Child Abuse & Neglect (SCAN) Review 2008, with other key stakeholder Government Departmental representatives. Which was presented in a report that provided an analysis of the the key practice issues identified, with a range of recommendations to for consideration of the Director General.

  • Led the consultation and development process for the Cultural Support Plan for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children in Care.
